Connecting you with the Body of Christ
Calvary offers a variety of ministries for you to get connected, to grow spiritually, to use your gifts for the Kingdom, and to be sharpened by others. There's a place here for everyone!
YMCA at Calvary
The YMCA Learning Center at Calvary is a wonderful partnership between Calvary United Methodist Church and the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA offering a unique blend of Biblical teaching, a Christian staff, and superior early childhood care and education. Our ministry can partner with your family to build a firm foundation for your children. The YMCA Child Care at Calvary serves ages six weeks through sixth grade.
At Calvary, we are committed to connecting kids with Jesus! We understand your desire for a safe environment that will help you nurture your child on to spiritual maturity. This is a sacred trust that we take very seriously.

Christ's church was meant to be like a BLAZING FIRE--hot, impassioned, and enduring! Without a vibrant connection to a healthy congregation, many "lone ember" Christians soon fade away in their faith. In contrast, believers who have encouragement and accountability in some sort of growth group or ministry team will be personally challenged to “burn on” in ever-increasing intensity as they walk with Christ.
We firmly believe that EVERY believer needs some sort of small group connection.
At Calvary we love to use sports (softball, golf, basketball, hunting, fishing) to connect people with Christ and with each other. All of our sports opportunities are offered to people of all ages inside the church, as well as for our friends in the community. We are excited about UPWARD SPORTS, a sports ministry for kids. It is growing and exciting.
Abundant Living Ministry
The Abundant Living ministry exists to bless and encourage others. Our mission is to "work together to promote a healthy mind, body, and spirit for the glory of God and service to our fellow man."
The Abundant Living Ministry team encourages health and wellness of the Calvary community by focusing on principles of eating healthy, moving healthy, thinking healthy, healing, caring and support.

"I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts, to make artistic designs . . . to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship." (Exodus 31:3-5).
Quilts of Comfort
The Calvary Quilts of Comfort ministry has two primary purposes:
- To comfort, encourage and pray for ill and hurting persons of the church (through the giving of a hand-made quilt).
- To promote fellowship as we keep the quilting tradition alive, sharing and teaching the art of quilting to others!
Anyone with an interest in sewing, cutting, pressing fabric, or quilting is welcome. Each year a quilting retreat is also offered to encourage newcomers, and to work together on larger projects. If you would like more information about how to connect with quilting, go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650.
GriefShare is a special seasonal seminar/support group for people grieving the death of someone close. It's a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. At GriefShare, you'll learn valuable information that will help you through this difficult time in your life.
GriefShare groups meet weekly for 13 weeks to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: video seminar with experts, support group discussions with focus, and workbook-based personal study and reflection.
For more information about GriefShare, go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650.
Homebound & Hospital Visitation
Calvary cares for you! If you or a loved one is hospitalized, in a long-term care facility, in assisted living, or homebound, we would feel blessed to support you with our prayer and presence. Contacts are made via phone, mailings, and personal visits. Our care teams include pastors, parish nurse, senior adults, and others with a passion for prayer and caring.
Please be aware that hospitals no longer notify us when our members are admitted for care; therefore, we appreciate being notified if you or a loved one are admitted to a healthcare facility or are homebound.
Go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650 to request a visit.
All men need Jesus and all men need each other. The focus of the Calvary men's ministry is to encourage men to LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE. Or we could say it like this: our goal is to grow in friendship with Jesus and friendship with one another. Amazing things happen when men get together for study, service, and fellowship.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17)
How can you connect? The first Friday of the month, men gather for breakfast (at Calvary) from 6-7:30 a.m. – anyone is welcome anytime! More than fifty men gather weekly Bible studies (Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and men of Calvary grow together through retreats, church softball, father/son paintball outings, hunting, wild game feeds, and trap shooting. Other opportunities to serve include coaching and leadership for "Upward Basketball," the care and upkeep of our church building/property, cooking together for Easter breakfast, and opportunities to care for those in need both inside and outside our church walls. Also, every Monday night and Tuesday morning Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) meets at Calvary - 400 men of all denominations.
Join this awesome "band of brothers" as we grow in friendship with Jesus and friendship with each other. For more information about current men's ministry offerings, go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650.
Music & Worship
"God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24).
The Lord has given us many different gifts and a VARIETY of ways to worship Him. One way is through music and the arts. We desire worship at Calvary to be authentic and passionate, with an open door to anyone desiring to use their gifts. We welcome new musicians and artists! In our blended worship, we offer opportunities for worshipers to be part of the Praise Team, Calvary Choir, Women's Chorus, Men's Chorus, and occasionally vocal small groups or solos. We also incorporate flags, banners, drama, dance, and instrumentalists (groups, small groups, and solos). Our sound technicians (including projection, sound, and video) also play a vital role in weekly and corporate worship.
As we continue pursuing God and receiving His love, we desire that our passion for Him is reflected in our worship. Would you join us? For more information about current music and worship opportunities, go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650.
What are we doing as Christ's ambassadors on earth? Every church of Jesus Christ has been left with a mandate:
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you..." (Matthew 28:19-20).
Our passion at Calvary is the vision of Jesus Christ, Himself, to reach a lost and dying world with the good news!
How do we do this? Corporately, it involves sending and supporting individual workers/groups from our congregation on local, regional, national, or international missions to serve, to spread the gospel, and to stand up for justice and truth. Financially, it involves supporting outreach ministries and individual missionaries all over the world (monthly spotlights on local shelters, international pastors, regional evangelism, etc). Individually, it involves reaching out to our friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers with the life-giving message of Jesus. Might God be calling you to give leadership to Calvary's outreach ministry as we shine Christ's light into all the earth? If interested, go to our Contact Page or call the Calvary office at 701-232-5650.
Faith Community Nursing
Faith Community Nursing or Parish Nursing is the melding of nursing and ministry. A parish nurse is a licensed registered nurse (RN) who is trained and prepared in holistic ministry. Parish nursing focuses on the intentional care of the spirit, while also supporting the emotional and physical well-being of the congregation.
Parish nursing is rooted in the example of Christ, "to preach the kingdom of God and to heal" (Luke 9:2), and in God's desire that we live an abundant, healthful life – "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10).
Parish Nursing is not a substitute for pastoral care, medical assistance, community health nursing or social services. Parish nurses work in partnership with others to advocate for the health and well-being of the congregation.
A parish nurse works with the members of a congregation and pastoral staff in many ways:
- Visiting members in their homes, hospitals, and long-term care facilities as well as at the church or by phone
- Counseling members on health-related issues or healthy lifestyles
- Assisting in obtaining needed health services or navigating the health care system
- Helping members to understand the relationship between body, mind, and spirit
- Assisting in times of crisis and assisting members in adapting to important lifestyle changes
- Teaching classes on maintaining good health
- Referring to appropriate community resources and health agencies as well as to pastoral staff
- Providing health screenings
- Organizing support groups within the church
Karen Fleming, Meghan Dockter serve our church family at Calvary as a Parish Nurses. Please feel free to contact Karen through the Calvary office at 701-232-5650 if you need health information, have health questions or concerns, are hospitalized, or would like support, prayer, and care.
Each of us is on a mission from God and He has equipped us, in our individual ways, to carry out our assignments using the incredible power of prayer. You may be a "list" pray-er, a personal intercessor, or a pray-er for other prayer specialties or types, but all are invited to step forward with God and partner with other believers in prayer!
Be a B.A.S.I.C. Prayer Warrior:
Acts 2:44 "And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common."
Job 42:4 "Hear now, and I will speak; I will ask You and You will instruct me."
Psalm 105:4 "Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually."
Proverbs 3:32 "For the devious are an abomination to the LORD; but He is intimate with the upright.
Galatians 3:26 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ."
